About the event
Mississippi in the Park, or the Mississippi Picnic, was historically an annual celebration that embraced the arts, food, and culture of Mississippi. In 2024, the society was formed to revive the beloved event that brought Mississippians together in New York for over 30 years. Partnering with several educational institutions, we were able to welcome a crowd of over 300 to the event’s return. The 2025 event saw the addition of food vendors, a dessert contest, and three musical artists who weathered the stormy conditions to bring a little bit of Southern Hospitality to the city.
This year’s theme is “Family Reunion” and we look forward to having all of our Mississippi family join and bring a piece of home with them.
